Waiting for Sandy...

Here in Maine, not sure what will happen but there is talk of coastal flooding and loss of power - I just moved to the coast!! Great! Hoping all will end well but will go to work tomorrow and worry about my little kitty at home. Took some pictures out on my two walks today:

Stay safe on the East Coast!!

Hoping we don't lose power, but, it may be inevitable-

just want to keep my cat safe -

Until next time -

Gotta have these...organization edition...

Hello there, I apologize for spotty posts, but, I have just moved again, so my focus is trying to get my home in order and I just got my computer up and running again last night.  Thank you for stopping by for another edition of what's out there in the design world for the home and because I am in a very small cottage, topping my list is finding practical ways to store items. Of course, a trip to Goodwill wouldn't be a bad thing if I need to get rid of stuff!!

Here are some great decorative items to help you store your belongings:

I had the smallest box when I was little (my best friend did too) and we
LOVED them!! Great for jewelry and cosmetics, vitamins and random items.
I may need another one now! Go to the Container Store
for more information; prices are from $16.99 to $39.99 -

This is a great for maximizing space -
I used to work for a closet design company and the double
hung organizer is key to doubling your hanging space - I
could use one of these too - $19.99 at Target -

I can't do this edition without Ikea!  This is a set of 7 boxes
for just $12.99 - you really can't beat IKEA's fabulous
pricing - how great are these?? For multiple uses -

Can you use any of these items? Let me know! Feel free to leave
me a comment telling me your favorite find or creative way for organizing any
part of your home - I'd love to hear it and possibly use it in my new home.

Have a great rest of the week !

Regina, the Evil Queen's home...imagined...

Its Sunday night again and time for "Once Upon a Time," so I thought I would bring you my interpretation of the Evil Queen's (Regina) imagined Storybooke home.  Since she dresses primarily in monochromatics with mostly black and grey, I imagine her home to be void of any bright colors.  See what you think and let me know your thoughts, if you are a fan of the show too.

The Snow White home...

I am a huge fan of the ABC hit show 'Once Upon a Time' and I have done a couple of previous posts about the fabulous sets on the show.  Since tonight is the second episode of the season, I thought I would showcase Snow White's aesthetic again via my Pinterest board.  Pinterest is a great way to put together boards (of any style or anything you want) with photos of this shabby chic aesthetic that I love.  Please comment if you like the pics too -

Beauty product du jour...

Stepping out of the design box again today, I want to share a beauty product that is fantastic I have tried recently. I am not getting paid to endorse this product, these are products I am using or have tried that I think you may want to try as well.

I was in my local CVS, and prices being what they are for skin care - i.e., rather high, I am always on the lookout for reasonable products that are high quality but don't cost the earth. I used to sell several lines of skincare, so I am familiar with skincare and love learning about new lines. I came across Lumene, a Scandinavian company that offers little trial products for $3.99 .  A 'time freeze' night cream that looked like something my skin could use at the right price.  I love it! If you are looking for a cream that will firm, tone and make your skin look brighter, this is it.  It is light, not greasy, goes on easily and is fine for sensitive skin. I highly recommend it. I recently bought the day firming cream with SPF, and have listed a couple of other products I want to try.  Would you try Lumene? Is it what you need?

This is a great cream for daily use...

I want to try this soon -

Vitamin C can be drying, so use with caution if you have
sensitive skin -

This is the first product I tried and I love it -

I would love to try these for my night routine -
You will notice that the prices are very reasonable as well -

Gotta have these...! (on a budget)

Here are my picks for this week's items that I gotta have, but, on a budget.

I will be honest with you - I am tired of seeing decorating items to buy in sleek magazines that just cost too much money. Not many people have $1,000 to drop on a sofa, let alone any other piece of furniture. Re-use pieces, paint them, decorate them, anything you can do to recycle will cost you far less money. So, I thought I would highlight items from big box stores - K-Mart, Wal-Mart and Target. You can find virtually anything for your home and it doesn't have to cost the earth. Good taste is good taste is good taste, no matter what. So, tell me, do you agree?  Does it seem like magazines are pushing really expensive items in the middle of a deep recession?

A great big red clock available at Target for $28.34 -
this is a price cut -

This gorgeous graphic comforter set from K-Mart is available
in both Full and Queen for $29.99 - and it is on trend -

Ok, this is my favorite - a PINK SLIM TV! This is available
in pink, white and purple for $209.98 - it is 32" and at
just 2" it is ultra slim. I have wanted a white TV for ages -
who wouldn't love to get rid of the black 'carbunkle'  TV (as I
call it) dominating your living room??

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't have hundreds of dollars to spend
on home decor items.  It is no wonder thrift, consignment and second hand
stores are doing so well right now, especially in the Northeast US.  Next week,
we'll explore other big box stores and what they have to offer for any
budget.

Let me know your thoughts - thanks for stopping by!
